Publix & Punk

I pick up some extra money a few days a week working at my old job, doing inventories. This morning I was at Publix -- in case you're not from the Southeast, this is a major supermarket chain. It's about 5:30 a.m., the store hasn't opened yet, and it's pretty quiet, except for the piped-in music. This was NOT music brought in by the staff -- it's the regular music that they play throughout the day. And what do I hear?

"Eh, eh, eh eh, eh eh, eh, eh eh...I wanna be sedated!"

Yes, they were playing The Ramones in the supermarket. And lest anyone think they were just playing loud music to help the staff wake up, about three hours later while the store was open, they played "Rockaway Beach."

Don't misunderstand -- I love The Ramones. But juxtaposed with the supermarket setting, this was too weird. And I can't help wondering...what would Joey think?
